about

Destined to make her mark on the Australian jazz scene, award-winning vocalist Amelia Evans arrives with the release of her debut album ‘The First Song’.

Recorded in the ABC Melbourne studios, ‘The First
Song’ explores a combination of jazz standards and contemporary arrangements, showcasing Evans’ versatile vocal delivery and breathtaking ability to capture an audience via improvisation and storytelling.

Featuring an impressive line-up of some of Australia’s finest jazz musicians, this record captures a truly honest sound discovered in just one day of live tracking.

In 2017, Amelia was awarded the coveted James Morrison Generations in Jazz Vocal Scholarship. As part of the prize, Amelia was offered an exclusive recording contract with ABC Jazz and Jazztrack. It was the generosity of Generations in Jazz, ABC Jazz and Mal Stanley that brought this album to life.
